... a Word with Pastors David & Lagonda

May 2008

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:1-2).

Some years ago a sociologist accompanied a group of mountain climbers on an expedition.. Among other things, he quickly observed a distinct correlation between cloud cover and contentment. For example, when there was no cloud cover and the peak was in view, the climbers were energetic and cooperative. However, when the gray clouds eclipsed the view of the mountaintop, those same climbers were sullen and selfish.

Is it possible that this same thing often happens to us in the spiritual realm? As long as our eyes are on God's majesty there is a bounce in our step. But let our eyes focus on the dirt beneath us and we will grumble about every rock and crevice we have to cross. No wonder Paul urged, "Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to the things going on around Christ! That's where the action is. See things from His perspective. Set your affections on things above, not on the things of this earth."

We continue to praise the Lord for all of His blessings during our recent Spring REVIVAL! I believe only in the days ahead will we truly understand all the miraculous things God has performed in the lives of His people. Once again, the month of May affords us many more opportunities to Look up and focus more clearly upon Him

On Sunday, May 11th, we will be giving special honor to all of our wonderful moms. You will not want to miss this special service.

"Happy Mother's Day" means more
Than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots of things
We never get to say.
It means I love you first of all,
Then thanks for all you do.
It means you mean a lot to me,
And that I honor you.
But most of all, I guess it means
That I am thinking of
Your happiness on this, your special day,
So with pleasure and with love we simply say, have a "Happy Mother's Day."

May the Lord continue to bless you and favor you with the fullness of His grace. Let us continue to climb higher together, keeping our eyes always upon His glory!

Loving God, and Loving People . . .
